Welcome to my experience at
Today is the tenth day of school and I can not
believe how active things have been.
Before school started I reported the fact that I
am a member of the Hernando High School Marching Band. Well last night we
played in the stands at our first football game. Our team played the number
five ranked team in the state and scored first to lead seven to zero. We lead
at 14-7 also, we tied at 21-21 but just before the half they scored for a 28-21
half time score. We ended up loosing 41 to 27 as they came out with an awesome
defense in the second half. Our band played fairly well and both the team and
the band will only improve as the season moves on. We only practice two days a
week now, but each day is a four hour session and with band as a class we spend
a lot of time on marching and improving our playing.
If you have read my page you know I had a list of
things I wanted to do at HHS printed below. Well some of my dreams are already
coming true. I will attend the first meeting of the Student Government today
and will be involved with this group as much as possible with my schedule. It
is not like middle school!
The big news however is that with the help of my dad’s
cousins Ed and George, the help of Reb and Buck at
the Quarry Golf Course and the First Tee Program of Brooksville, I have earned
a spot on the Varsity Golf Team of Hernando High School. Tryouts were Monday
and Tuesday and those of us lucky enough to make the team practiced Wednesday
with a parents/team meeting yesterday before the football game. Practice will
take place today and Monday as well with our top six players playing a match
already next Tuesday. Moss will never grow under your feet in this high school!
Wish me luck, the other nine guys on this team are
awesome golfers. They are also some of the most helpful students I have ever
met. The older guys are really helping me to learn the ropes and my game can
only improve from this experience.
I also hope to play chess, tennis and basketball
for Hernando High. As my first year gets into full swing I will update this
page with how I do on these aims.
